Note: This is a beginner friendly guide for DIY internal battery replacement. Before installing the 61Wh high capacity battery, please update your device BIOS to the latest version.
What You Will Need
Tools: Framework supplied T5 screwdriver. Do NOT use power screwdrivers, which may damage screws and housing.
Parts: New replacement battery
Workspace: A flat surface covered with soft cloth or the original device bag to prevent scratches.
Safety Precautions
Please read this section fully before you start.
1. Hold the battery only by its plastic frame. Do not bend, scratch, cut or puncture it, and keep it away from heat sources.
2.If red LED lights flash on both sides after removing the cover, the device is not fully powered off. Stop working immediately.
3.All internal cable connectors are fragile. Pull or insert cables straight without twisting or prying. Bent motherboard pins will cause permanent hardware damage.
4.Do not discard your old battery in regular household waste. Please recycle it via professional battery recycling programs.
5.New batteries ship in shipping sleep mode. The laptop will not power on by pressing the power button alone. You must connect the power adapter to wake the battery. This is normal.
Replacement Procedures
Step 1: Shut Down and Disconnect Power
On Windows, go to the Start Menu → Power → Shut down. On Linux, perform a proper system shutdown. Unplug all USB C charging cables from the laptop.

Wait up to 30 seconds after shutdown until both side LEDs turn completely off. Confirm full power off before proceeding.

Step 2: Loosen Bottom Screws and Remove Input Cover
Close the laptop and place it upside down on your soft padded workspace. Use the T5 screwdriver to loosen the five bottom cover fasteners.
Note: These fasteners stay attached to the cover and will not fall out. The bottom left fastener will click once sufficiently loosened.

Flip the laptop over and open the screen to about 120 degrees. Gently lift the input cover starting from its bottom right corner. A touchpad cable is still connected — do not pull hard. You may lay the cover flipped aside; disconnect the cable only when full removal is needed.

Grip the pull tab on the touchpad cable and pull straight upward to disconnect it. Set the whole input cover assembly aside.

Step 3: Remove the Old Battery
Grip both edges of the battery connector and pull it straight downward. Do not twist the connector, or you may bend the metal pins inside the motherboard socket.
Loosen the three fasteners on the battery. The screws remain attached to the battery. Gently lift and remove the old battery with your fingertips and place it in a safe spot.
Step 4: Install the New Battery
Hold the new battery by its plastic frame and slide it smoothly into the internal battery compartment.

Inspect the metal pins in the motherboard battery socket. If any pins appear bent, do not force the connector in. Contact official technical support for assistance.

Grip both sides of the battery connector and insert it straight into the socket. If you feel significant resistance, stop immediately, pull the connector out, and realign.

Once connected, fasten the three battery screws back into place.

Step 5: Reassemble the Input Cover and Housing
Lay the input cover keyboard side down. Align the touchpad cable with its motherboard socket, push it in until you hear a click.

Verify full seating of the touchpad cable: the white marking line on the cable should sit close to the socket. If not fully inserted, flip up the black latch, push the cable further in, then close the latch.

Flip the input cover down onto the bottom housing. The cover uses magnets. If you feel resistance, do not press hard; lift and realign before closing.
Close the laptop and flip it upside down again. Reinstall the five bottom cover fasteners. Tighten moderately; avoid over torquing to prevent stripped threads or housing damage.

Step 6: Power On and Verify Completion
Plug in the USB C power adapter (required to wake the new battery from shipping mode), then press the power button to boot.

Enter your operating system and confirm battery detection and charging work normally.

Store your removed old battery away from heat and deliver it to a qualified recycling facility.
Troubleshooting
1.Computer will not boot: Confirm USB C power is connected. Reopen the device and check whether battery and touchpad cables are fully seated.
2.Keyboard or touchpad not working: Reopen the unit and confirm the touchpad cable is fully inserted with its black latch secured.
3.Strong resistance when inserting battery connector: Power off and disassemble immediately. Inspect for bent pins in the motherboard socket.
